New prime minister appointed in Myanmar:[World News]: Yangon, Oct 19 : Myanmar's military junta Tuesday replaced Khin Nyunt by Soe Win as prime minister in a sudden reshuffle. Khin Nyunt, who was also the country's military intelligence chief, was allowed to relinquish his posts "for health reason", said a statement of the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) signed by its chairman Than Shwe. Soe Win, who was SPDC's first secretary, was substituted by second secretary Thein Sein, while the latter's post was temporarily left vacant. Soe Win had succeeded Khin Nyunt as first secretary in August 2003 on latter's elevation as prime minister. He had served as northwest commander and chairman of the Sagaing Division Peace and Development Council. --Indo-Asian News Service
